Entry requirements for professors
Upon applying for a professorship at HTW Berlin, candidates are required
- to have successfully completed a university degree.
- to have a PhD or to be in the final stages of acquring a doctorate (a habilitation is not neccessary).
- to have at least 5 years of working experience, 3 of which outside of any academic context.
- to dispose of pedagogical and didactical skills. This can be proven through prior teaching experience.
- to be able to hold lectures in general subjects of the given field. The teaching language is either German or English; a certain level of German language proficiency is required.
- to be determined to procure and to implement projects in applied research.
- to be willing to take on tasks as part of the university’s self-governance.
Please note that appointment procedures generally take several months. We, therefore, encourage your application even if you do not completly fullfill all requirements at the date of tender, but will do so in the near future.

Appointments to professorship are in full-time positions. Part-time employment is generally possible in accordance with LBG (Berlin Civil Service Act).
