System reaccreditation
First Berlin university with quality seal
HTW Berlin has held the Accreditation Council's quality seal since May 2014 and will continue to enjoy this distinction until 30 September 2029 following successful system reaccreditation in May 2021. In 2014, HTW Berlin was the first university in the German capital to receive the coveted award for its quality management. It has now become the first university in Berlin to successfully pass the screening process for the second time.
System accreditation certifies that HTW Berlin is able to guarantee the quality standards of its degree programmes through its own quality management system. This means that the university does not have to have every single one of its 75 or so degree programmes assessed by an accreditation agency to determine whether it meets the minimum standards. Certification at HTW Berlin was carried out by AQAS, which is one of ten agencies authorised to award the Accreditation Council’s quality seal.
Length of system accreditation
On 5 May 2014, HTW Berlin received system accreditation from the Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programmes (AQAS e.V.) on behalf of the Accreditation Council (AC) and system reaccreditation on 31 May 2021, and is therefore entitled to certify its study programmes internally until 30 September 2029. The “Rules for the Accreditation of Study Programmes and for System Accreditation” (according to the resolution of the Accreditation Council of 23 February 2012) shall hereby apply.
