Exemption from Semester Ticket

The semesterticket is your ticket to use the public transportation and is valid all across Germany. The semester ticket is mandatory for all on-campus students at HTW Berlin. Exemptions are possible under special circumstances.

Valid reasons

  • severely disabled person's pass with token
  • students who are ill or disabled and therefore cannot use public transport
  • study-related stay for at least three consecutive months of the respective semester outside the area of validity of the Deutschlandsemesterticket (e.g. internship semester, semester abroad or thesis semester)
  • enrolment at two universities with the Deutschlandsemesterticket (please also refer to our information on dual enrolment)

Unfortunately, students on ZbwS degree programmes, part-time students and holders of a company ticket or JobTicket can no longer be granted an exemption.

The requirements for exemption from the semester ticket are regulated in the "Vertrag zum Erwerb des Deutschlandsemestertickets".

Application

The request for exemption from mandatory semesterticket fees for the current semester is to be submitted as original, further proofs (confirmation letters, medical records etc.) in copies.

Devaluation of the semesterticket

In case of exemption from the semester ticket your ticket will be devaluated and cannot be used anymore for the public tranportation.
