Comparison of Efficiencies in Supply Chains in Germany and India
The project investigated on one hand how the supply chains of the individual countries (Germany, India) differ in respect to the intermodal transport from the maritime port up to the distribution center in the hinterland. On the other hand, the study examined which efficiency the national supply chains achieve in the usage of time, labor and capital equipment. A comparison was conducted between the employment and kind of labor (e.g. gender, age, qualification, kind of jobs, employed or self-employed, grade of organization), the kind of machines (technologies for put away and retrieval), value added services and vehicle used (tonnage, age, CO2-emissions for external transports), type of infrastructure used (kind of streets, interstate borders and duties, petrol cost) to assess what performance is achieved and how it affects the environment. Furthermore, it was examined how through interdepartmental and intercompany process chains efficiency can be increased.
