Rassismus und Ableismus im Dresdner Hygiene Museum
For some years now, museums have been challenged to question their own racist, sexist, classist, heteronormative and ableist histories in order to adequately address different realities and designs of life. Increasingly, their social task is to do justice to a society that is constantly aware of its plurality and to be a place for debates in society as a whole. Reflecting on and transforming museum work in terms of accessibility and representation is therefore one of the most urgent tasks of museums if they want to retain social relevance and contribute to greater social participation and social cohesion. With my research project, I would like to record current international debates on the topic and test them in cooperation with a practice partner, the Dresden Hygiene Museum (www.dhmd.de)
